I believe that there’s no contradiction between being a business and doing good. Since 2012, we have donated 1% of our sales to local nature conservation group Natuurpunt as part of our membership of 1% for the Planet. I was the first European Ambassador for 1% for the Planet and have been spreading the word about this great initiative ever since.
We’re really excited to be going on Saturday 2 July to the opening of our latest Natuurpunt project, the Bezoekerscentrum Groene Vallei (Green Valley Visitors’ Centre) in Erps-Kwerps, half an hour outside Brussels.
We supported Natuurpunt with the acquisition of the Visitors’ Centre and with the communications around the launch. Of course, buying a whole building took much more than our 1% of 2015 sales but we are proud to be part of this project which was still a dream a year ago.
The Visitors’ Centre will help make the ‘Groene Vallei’ area more accessible which we believe will inspire people to protect nature and make the changes needed for a more sustainable world.
If you would like to join us on Saturday 2 July, the Visitors’ Centre is at 60 Lelieboomgaardenstraat, 3071 Erps-Kwerps. The speeches (including me speaking in Dutch much to everyone’s amusement) start at 11am and there will be a guided walk afterwards so do bring your wellies!
