Can hope counter fear?

KSnotebookStaying actively hopeful feels like the best way to keep the fear at bay right now.

We know from climate change that doom and gloom and their close relations fear and shame don't motivate people to change their behaviour. But hope can.

Hope conquers fear. When we are frozen in fear, we can't make change.

When we are shamed about our behaviour, we put our heads down and carry on as normal.

But when we paint a picture of a better future, we feel inspired and can share that vision.

What does a better future look like to you?

To me, a better future means less inequality, better leadership and decoupling economic growth from environmental destruction.

I want to believe that a more regenerative, fairer society is possible and I want to help make that future a reality.

Part of my role is to help people articulate their vision for a better future. If you think I can help you or your organisation, just reply to this mail.

I'll leave you with the words of Satish Kumar who says "To be an activist, you have to be an optimist."
