Disseminating Innovation in the Circular Economy - Sustainability Consult is a partner on RESYNTEX and leads its communications efforts. The project’s forward-thinking research aims to develop new circular economy concepts for the textile and chemical industries.

RESYNTEX has been repeatedly cited by the European Commission as an innovative step towards its Circular Economy Action Plan and new textile recycling processes. The project has been referenced in the Greenpeace report ‘Fashion at the crossroads’ and the Ellen MacArthur Foundations’ Circular Fibres Initiative. Sustainability Consult organised a number of well-attended Information Sessions to disseminate the project’s research to key stakeholders in Brussels and beyond.

Starting in June 2015, the project will run through to end-2018. Using industrial symbiosis, it aims to produce secondary raw materials from unwearable textile waste. Nineteen project partners from across ten different EU member states include industrial associations, businesses, SMEs and research institutes.

The €11 million undertaking received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Horizon 2020 is a financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, an initiative aimed at securing Europe's global competitiveness.
