RESYNTEX Featured in Two Major Reports

Circular Fiber InitiativeThe RESYNTEX project, for which Sustainability Consult is the dissemination partner, has been mentioned in two major reports promoting the circular economy. The Greenpeace report ‘Fashion at the Crossroads’ and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s Circular Fibres Initiative both shine a spotlight on the innovative European project focused on tackling textile waste.

The Greenpeace report identifies various initiatives promoting the circular economy in the clothing and footwear sectors. The RESYNTEX chemical recycling process, which produces secondary raw materials from unwearable textile waste, is discussed as a means of improving the circularity of the textile industry. RESYNTEX will facilitate the re-use of second-hand clothes and materials recovery.

A New Textiles Economy: Redesigning Fashion’s Future, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s latest report, features RESYNTEX as an example of mechanical monomer recycling technology for cellulose-based fibres. According to the report, RESYNTEX can help the industry shift towards a new textiles economy.

Stella McCartney was involved in the promotion and launch of the Ellen MacArthur report, recently announced as part of the Circular Fibres Initiative. The Initiative brings key stakeholders together with the aim of making a new textiles circular economy a reality. The latest Ellen MacArthur report presents a comprehensive overview of the current linear clothing model which is both economically and environmentally unsustainable.
