Kathryn Sheridan Talks Sustainability With Natuurpunt
- Tuesday, 25 October 2016
In an interview published this year in Natuurpunt’s De Kaardebol newsletter, our CEO Kathryn Sheridan shares the inspiration behind Sustainability Consult’s partnership with the Flemish nature conservation NGO Natuurpunt and the importance of connecting with nature.
A former city girl, Kathryn wants to make it easier for people to access nature and build a lasting relationship with the outdoors. As Kathryn says, “If we don’t make it easy to get kids out into nature, why will they want to protect the environment in the future?”
This is why, since 2013, Sustainability Consult has worked with Natuurpunt through 1% for the Planet, a global movement of companies who donate 1% of their sales to environmental non-profits. Kathryn is also a proud Ambassador for 1% for the Planet in Europe.
Together, Sustainability Consult and Natuurpunt have improved visitor information and access to nature in the Steentjesbos and Mechels Broek nature reserves in Flanders. In 2015, we sponsored a picnic bench in the Silsombos nature reserve and for our 2016 project, we contributed our 1% towards the purchase of the Bezoekerscentrum Groene Vallei visitors’ centre.
Located on the outskirts of Brussels, the Natuurpunt beauty spots are a great place to walk, explore local wildlife and enjoy a quiet moment – perhaps even at the Sustainability Consult bench.
